Kolhapuri Chatakdar Misal-Pav

There are many variations of making misal in maharashtra but Kolhapur city is mostly famous for spicy food "Misal - Pav" is one of them dish. It is breakfast dish. It is soooooooo spicy and Tasty breakfast. Eating "Misal-Pav" is to fill the stomach. Misal is a spicy curry prepared with moth beans or matki (in Marathi) and served with chopped onions, tomatoes, fresh coriander and lime along with some green and tamarind chutneys. 


Ingredients:


1. Oil - 4 tbsp
2. Pitcher - 2 cups
3. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
4. Asafoetida - 1/2 tbsp
5. Turmeric Powder - 3/4 tbsp
6. Salt - To taste
7. Ginger - 1/2" pieces
8. Garlic - 4 cloves
9. Onions Chopped - 2 medium
10. Cinnamon - 1"
11. Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
12. Goda Masala - 1 1/2 tbsp
13. Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
14. Dry coconut - 2 tbsp
15. Tomato chopped - 1 medium
16. Red chili powder - 2 tbsp

For Serve:


17. Farsan - As required
18. Lemon Wedges - As required
19. Potato cubes deep Fry - 1 cup
20. Fresh coriander leaves chopped - 1/4 cup
21. Onions Finely chopped - 2 medium
22. Tomato Finely chopped - 2 medium
23. Pav - As required
24. Curd - As Required





Method:

For Masala:

Grind Dry coconut, Ginger, Garlic, Coriander leaves, Red chilies. 

1. Soak pitcher for 8-10 hours. Remove water from them.

2.  Heat oil in pan and add Cumin seeds and mustard seeds.

3. Add chopped onion fry till golden color.

4. Then add Chopped tomatoes.

5. Add above masala and fry it properly.

6. After fry masala add Salt as to taste and red chili powder.

7. Add soaked pitcher and fry it in masala.

8. Then add some water and close the lid and let it cook around 20-25 minutes.

9. After cook switch off the gas.

10. Now Misal is ready for garnishing.

11. Take it in bowl and add Farsan, Chopped onion and tomatoes, Curd, Chopped Coriander leaves.

12. Serve with Pav.

13. Finally Kolhapuri Chatakdar Misal - pav is ready for eating.
